Native American history is rich in storytelling tradition. Marie Huskey’s family history is no different. A third generation storyteller, Marie decided to carry on the tradition at the age of 9, writing short stories to amuse her classmates. Born the grand daughter of a World War II survivor of the Wrangell, Alaska Internment Camp, Marie was never short of angst and inspiration.
Completing her first book at the age of 15, Marie began what would be her career as a writer and story teller. It was not until herfirst visit to the state where her grandmother was born and raised, would she take seriously her role as an Unangan and a Qawalangin, and then take her place in her family’s history of story telling.
